#HandsOffDC

February 10, 2017

The resolution to nullify the D.C. Death with Dignity Act will be marked up in the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Monday, February 13, at 5:30 p.m., in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Your fellow Americans in all 50 states have been emailing and calling their members of Congress to tell them to stop interfering with the District’s affairs. You’ve called House Speaker Paul Ryan, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and your Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton to let your views be known.

Now’s the time to let your voice be heard in person. There are two ways you can do this, TODAY.

#1: Attend the #HandsOffDC Rally

Join Councilmember Mary Cheh (the Act’s sponsor), Charles Allen, other Councilmembers, and your fellow District residents at a rally outside the Rayburn building to tell Rep. Chaffetz and the OGR Committee he chairs “to keep their #HandsOffDC as they vote to override the will of District residents.”

See the event details and RSVP on Facebook.

#2: Attend the markup hearing

Join your Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton as she defends the law at the public hearing, in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

We have seen that we have the power to make change if we show up.

Perhaps you’ve heard reports of Rep. Chaffetz’s Utah constituents chanting “Do your job!” at him at a town hall last week. The rally and the hearing are your opportunities to tell him and the OGR Committee members to do their job: represent their constituents in their states and keep their hands off D.C.

Speak out for your end-of-life options, show up for your rights!
