Mississippi State Senator Debbie Dawkins introduced SB 2283, the Mississippi Death with Dignity Act, on January 13, 2017. The bill died in committee on January 31.
The 2017 session is the first time the Mississippi legislature considered an assisted death bill in over 20 years. Mississippi previously considered physician-assisted dying legislation in 1996 (HB 1023).
