New Group in Oregon Helps Patients with Death with Dignity Requirements

Patients often ask where they can get solid, on-the-ground support for learning about and accessing services for the end of life. A new nonprofit organization was formed in 2017 for just this purpose. End of Life Choices Oregon saw a need to work directly with patients and caregivers on physician-assisted death requirements as well as advanced directives and other tools for end-of-life planning in Oregon. The nonprofit relies primarily on experienced volunteers – sometimes doctors or lawyers, sometimes passionate advocates – to connect with people around the state and counsel them on end-of-life options.
