Week 8/2016 in the Death with Dignity Movement

February 29, 2016

In the week from February 22 to February 28, 2016:

  • The Nebraska House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on a proposed Death with Dignity bill.
  • Physician-assisted dying bills stalled in Arizona (Senate Health and Human Services Committee) and Colorado (House floor), and a bill was tabled in Utah.
  • We learned that both the Hawaii Senate and the House bills failed to meet a deadline for a hearing to be scheduled and are now done for this year.
  • We also learned that the special legislative session in which the California End of Life Option Act was passed will be open for “at least a few more weeks.”
